HERNANDEZ BREAKS DOWN OVER INJURY

It has been a bittersweet season for Mexican international star Javier Hernandez, also known as Chicharito, in the 2021 MLS season. After a wild start for Javier Hernandez in front of goal, injuries have stopped his progress in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, Javier Hernandez used his social media account to update his fans on the injury keeping him out of action. He uploaded a video of him working his way back gradually from injury and the former Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham United and Manchester United striker struggled to fight back tears at the end of the video.

Javier Hernandez has not played for LA Galaxy since June when he picked up a hamstring problem. The Mexican forward sustained the injury while warming up ahead of the league encounter with Sporting Kansas City in the MLS. The incident happened on June 23 and Chicharito hasn't been on the pitch since then.

The hamstring injury happened on the back of his scintillating start to the new MLS season. Chicharito scored ten goals in as many games before the injury. He was the leading goalscorer in the MLS before the unfortunate injury but he has lost the position after his inactivity for several weeks. In the absence of Chicharito, Seattle Sounders striker Raul Ruidiaz has taken the lead in the race to win the Golden Boot. He has 14 goals to his name this season.

Without Javier Hernandez in their team, LA Galaxy have lost their momentum in the Western Conference and are presently on the downward spiral. LA Galaxy are third on the league table in the Western Conference with 35 points from 11 games behind the duo of Sporting Kansas City and Seattle Sounders.

Sporting Kansas City are in second place with 38 points from 11 games, while league leaders Seattle Sounders have 39 points from the same number of games.
