WEST HAM CLOSE TO COMPLETING HERNANDEZ’S DEAL

Premier League side West Ham are set to complete the deal for former Manchester United star Javier “Chicarito” Hernandez.

The deal is expected to be done in the next few days, according to Sky Sports. The Mexico international has a £13 million release clause at Bayer Leverkusen which The Hammers are keen on meeting.

SlavenBilic is keen on adding more attacking options as the team before the new season resumes in August. The manager has been linked with several high profile forwards this window but the deal for Hernandez is set to be done.

The player spent five years at Old Trafford from 2010 to 2015 before he was sold offto the German Bundesliga side by Louis van Gaal. The 29-year old has also been linked with a move to a MLS side but it seems a return to the Premier League is more feasible. The London stadium is holding out for a top striker this summer and this could be Hernandez.

Hernandez has had a mixed fate in Germany. He started on a brilliant note before slowing down due to poor form. He netted 39 times in his two year stay at Leverkusen. The Mexican has seen a surge in form recently and West Ham hope he replicates his Man United display when the season restarts next month.

West Ham have spent quite a lot in transfers of recent. They have not received the best returns but they remain hopeful. Former Manchester City keeper Joe Hart just joined the club. Also, Stoke City winger Marko Arnautovic is set to join them after both sides agreed a record £24 million. Ghana international Andre Ayew holds the current transfer record at West Ham at £20 million when he moved from Swansea last summer.
